I fully agree that the psychosocial components of obesity cannot be ignored.

While I have no doubt that surgical treatment may be the best option for many patients struggling with severe obesity, it must always be remembered that the actual surgery is only a small technical piece in the whole long-term treatment plan. Done in the wrong patient with no support, obesity surgery can be a disaster - and often is.
