The "Well Nation" is certainly a lovely concept. However, can Mr. Mehrotra explain his own actions within SHPS? With no other rewards or recognitions for SHPS employees, they frequently offer "ice cream socials", complete with ice cream, toppings, fudge, butterscotch, etc.... They have served employees KFC luncheons, pork BBQ, pizzas, etc.... and little has changed over the past few years. Employees are given 1/2 hour unpaid lunches. Candy is handed out as performance rewards, candy is handed out on Halloween and Christmas.
Mr. M has not given his employees so much as even a cost of living increase in the past 5 years and has dramatically increased the cost of healthcare benefits for them while lowering the coverage. SHPS steadfastly denies employees disability benefits going against their medical professional's recommendations - and there really isn't evidence that he has put his "Well Nation" concept into practice in his own business.
His own cafeterias and lunch rooms are filled with chips, candy bars, ice creams and microwaveable lunches such as BBQ sandwiches, etc.... so there seems to be a bit of inconsistency on what he believes as opposed to what he is doing within his own control with his employees and business.
Anyone can "talk the talk" - when is he going to "walk the walk".
So Rishabh Mehrotra says he's got the solution for obesity?
Does that include the Bananas Foster & other yummy desserts he served up at the SHPS / Landacorp 2011 Healthcare Symposium in New Orleans this November?

And how's YOUR absenteeism rate there at SHPS, Rishabh? From what we see your company has a higher turnover and absenteeism rate than any business in the US. Care to explain?
