I am sorry that you feel so defeated and frustrated - obesity and the whole weight issue is very daunting.  that being said - everyone cannot afford the surgical option and unless you totally change how you eat-why you eat- temptations in your kitchen and pantry-your emotional connection to food- you would not be a successful candidate for either lap band or gastric bypass.  Though both have high failure rates because you can "undo the surgery" by overeating - which is what gets you obese in the first place.  You may have a slow metabolism and a genetic predisposition to weight gain - but eating puts the weight on and lack of movement compounds the problem.  I worked with several 500 plus pound people and over 2-3 yrs they lost more than 50% of their weight by slowly modifying what they eat- by beginning a walking program-by getting therapy for their food issues.  Believe in yourself and get help-it is doable.
