if you are "clinically anemic' then someone needs to establish the cause and treat it so that's issue #1 - did anyone give you an actual cause, diagnosis and treatment?  Iron supplements are fine as long as you determine the cause and treat it so that it doens't persist - so you need to take care of that.

If you eat iron rich foods while still observing calorie control - you can "fuel your energy stores" so that means including dark green veggies (lots of them without dressing) in your diet and also eating small 4 ounce portions of lean red meat a couple or times/week plus:

  • liver
  • lean red meats, including beef, pork, lamb
  • seafood, such as oysters, clams, tuna, salmon, and shrimp, etc.
  • beans, including kidney, lima, navy, black, pinto, soy beans, and lentils (rinse if they are canned since that's sodium rich water)
  • iron fortified whole grains, including cereals, breads, rice, and pasta (just make sure they are high fiber and whole grain based)
  • greens, including collard greens, kale, mustard greens, spinach, and turnip greens
  • tofu
  • vegetables, including broccoli, swiss chard, asparagus, parsley, watercress, brussel sprouts
  • chicken and turkey
  • blackstrap molasses
  • nuts -10 to 15 nuts is a serving
  • egg yolks
  • dried fruits, such as raisins, prunes, dates and apricots (very small servings)
  • So create a 1500-1600 calorie diet using some of these foods daily and your kids will love spending time with you if you walk - which after you get over the "tired hum[" will actually enerize you.  Subscribe to some health magazines to get further education and meal plan ideas and get inspired by The Biggest Loser as stories of morbidly obese people get past their fatigue and work on changing their lifestyle.
