It is an odd phenomena for me, Hoopers Judge... BTW, you must be a Boston Terrier lover with an avatar of that name
I love it!
Anyway, I eat very healthy and I generally abhor junk food since my weight loss surgery (of course I lived on junk food before my obesity surgery). But then there are times when I crave something... maybe something sweet, maybe something of a crunchy snack. My latest cravings have been for a particular dessert and a main dish comfort food. I do not mention what they are because I learned in Overeaters Anonymous that sometimes mentioning a food by name can cause a binge for someone with a food addiction or disordered eating.
What I try to do in these instances is to find a makeover recipe for the food that I am craving that is bariatric friendly. I have learned so much about baking and cooking with grain-free flours and using other foods in lieu of grains, I often post recipes on HealthCentral or recommendations for bogs or cook books fro grain-free cooking.
Just use the search tool at the top right of the page and dearch on the term "bariatric recipe" and you should be presented with all of my recipes makeovers and links to cook books for indulgent desserts, breads, and snacks made grain-free. Here is one sharepost to get you started: http://www.healthcentral.com/obesity/c/276918/139543/bariatric-weight
As far as sweets are concernded, you must be careful of what you use as your sweetner. Many people believe that sugar substitues actually increase the craving for sweets. I do not know if this is true or not. What I do know is that I do not want to put cancer-causing chemicals in my body, so I use stevia or organic agave or honey in my baking.
Best,
MBL
