Hi there,

Congratulations on the weight loss.  However, 28 pounds in three months does seem like very rapid weight loss.  Did you realize that you've lost 15% of your starting weight?  That is an impressive number.

It took me nine months to lose 15% of my starting weight last year, however I wasn't dieting excessively just watching how much I ate.  I've been bouncing around that weight now for three months.  I want to lose the next 10% this year (but keep in mind that I weighed 100 more pounds than you to start with).

Regarding the jaundice, it is important to see your primary care doctor who can order some tests.  It is important to determine the cause of your jaundice so that it can be addressed.

Could excessive dieting have caused it?  I have absolutely NO IDEA!!  But please do talk to your doctor.  It is great that your cardiologist says that there is nothing wrong with your heart, but obviously something is not right.

If you want to read more about jaundice, check out this article on MedicineNet.com.  It is a little dense but you can jump around to read the parts you are interested in.  An easier read regarding jaundice can be found on MedlinePlus.

I hope that this information helps somewhat.  Please let us know what your doctor says.  It may be important for others to know whether excessive dieting can contribute to jaundice or not.  Thank you for your question.
