Q: What are specific symptoms of obesity?

I'm doing a project on obesity.  I would like to know what the main symptoms of becoming obese are.  I understand there are many, many causes of obesity but I'm not sure if causes and symptoms are considered the same thing.  Are they?

Causes of obesity include:

Inadequate sleep

Over eating

Sedentary lifestyle

Highly processed diet (high fructose corn syrup)

Genetic predisposition/slow metabolic rate

Chronic stress

Smoking cessation

New theories include: gene mutations, obesity virus, Environmental toxins

 

Symptoms of obesity include:

Disrupted sleep/sleep apnea

Joint pain, destruction

Any number of chronic diseases that are associated with obesity (heart disease, hypertension, stroke, cancers, gallbladde disease, diabetes type 2,etc.)

Arthritis

Depression

Low self esteem

Shortness of breath especially on mild exertion
