Q: What is a healthy way for a 16 year old to lose weight?

I'm a 16 year old girl, and my weight effects me greatly.  I can't buy cute clothing anymore, I can't go swimming because people give me weird looks.  I hate it!

 

I'm 4'9 and I weigh 163lbs. I'm tired of not being able to tie my shoes(yeah, it affects that), and I'm sick of not being able to even be held by my boyfriend.  He can't pick me up because of how fat I am.  I hate it.  I want to lose weight, but I know that it has to be a healthy way.  Can someone please help me?

When I was 16, dating pressures motivated me to lose 40+ pounds.  I adopted a 1600 calorie diet with fruits, veggies, lean proteins (mostly fish, egg whites, tofu, white meat turkey and chicken), whole grain strictly portion controlled grains, fat free dairy products and a bit of healthy fat daily.  Weight watchers was my "sensible diet" - but back in those days there was no point system - just a balanced diet + exercise daily  - atleast one hour.  The pounds came off over 9 months so it was slow and steady and it stayed off because it wasn't a radical unforgiving diet.
