A study published in the British Journal of Nutrition found that the body mass index (BMI)--a number used to determine which category of weight a person falls into--has a racial bias. Researchers say the BMI chart is based on older studies of white adults, and it does not take into account the body types of African Americans, Hispanics, and Asians.
