Can Obesity Cause Intestinal Problems

Study says even the gut can 'taste' sweets

British researchers say the mouth isn't the only area that can taste sweets--the intestines also have receptors that sense real and artificial sugar. Now those researchers are trying to find ways to harness the intestine's receptors. Experts believe that by controlling the intestine's taste molecules, they may be able to control how much sugar is absorbed in the gut. This could lead to better treatments for both diabetes and obesity. Read more »
