Hip-replacement complications more common in obese women

Obese people who have hip-replacement surgery are more likely to suffer complications from the procedure, researchers say. A Swedish study of 2,494 hip replacements found that obesity was linked to higher risks of infection, dislocations, and surgical revisions because of infection. And obese women were more likely to suffer these complications than obese men. Read more »
