New obesity pill may be twice as effective as others

A new obesity drug called tesofensine may work twice as well as existing medications, a new study suggests. Researchers studied men and women who took tesofensine and found that they lost twice as much weight during the study period as participants who took Acomplia or Meridia. The study also found that the drug had no effect on blood pressure, and only a slight effect on heart rate. The company who makes tesofensine says they will begin Phase III clinical trials in early 2009.  Read full story >
