Previous studies have found that people who carry excess weight are at greater risk for chronic pain. Now scientists have found that chronic pain and obesity are, in fact, linked with both mood disorders and family history. The new study of twins showed that overweight and obese twins were more likely to report such chronic pain conditions as low back pain, tension-type or migraine headache, fibromyalgia, abdominal pain, and chronic widespread pain than their normal weight twins. Researchers also concluded that family history and depression and family history play a significant role linking obesity and pain.
