We Had It Wrong! Arthritis Is Not What We Thought It Was!

By Dr. G Monday, February 07, 2011

In medical school, I was taught, as all medical doctors are still taught in class, that osteoarthritis is an old-age disease resulting from wear and tear; joint bones rubbing and wearing out the cartilage between the joints.  But based on research, I have come to a shocking conclusion... Osteoarthritis is NOT a degenerative, wear-and-tear disease!

Over the past ten years, more and more research shows that osteoarthritis starts out very similar to other chronic diseases like heart disease, stroke, diabes, etc.

Like heart disease, stroke, diabetes, and even wrinkles of the skin, osteoarthritis is caused by chronic inflammation!

That last statement is a significant one... in my next post, I'll explain it further, as well as what it means for you.

I totally agree. i have been to the doctors since the age of about 7 with pains in my ankles and now at the age of 21, it has now developed to both knees, hipps, big toes, wrists and thumbs.i have done alot of ressearch on all sorts of joint pain and asked the doctor if it could be Osteoathritis. she said all the signs show i have it but she will not diagnose. she said i cant have it because of MY AGE?! they are slowly worsening and now i am starting to find it increasingly difficult to do every day tasks like getting up off the floor, climbing the stairs and getting out of a car. i have almost begged her for help with this severe pain but she said she cant because of MY AGE. so does this mean i have to suffer until i am old before anyone will do anything about it? and for that reason i doubt it is a wear and tear thing. PLEASE help my by replying, Thanks
