Okay, I have read what you said about lower back pain and plain going down in you legs. So if you don't have money and already know you have hernei slipped disc and a bad lumbar 5 what do you do? You said something about exerise you can do at home, please tell me what kind of a exerise I can do, as I have said I know what my problem is because I went to my doctor years ago almost 12 years ago, but this is soon to me 2012, and times are tight for everyone including me, what can I do to get rid of this pain and what kind of exerise can I do. I thank you so very much if you can answer this question for me.
Care of low back, checking your posture straight stance aligns the spine's natural curves, knee-to-chest raise, hamstring strech, pelvic tilt, half sit ups, calf strech, wall slide./Advanced Exercises, press up,back extension, hip extension, lower back rotation.
Your back may stretched orrested. Or , you may need to ice it, apply heat, or take over the counter drug to help stop back pain. ice for swelling, each hour heat for muscle spasms, put a wet towel in a unziped baggy heat in microwave for a few get good and hot zip up put towel over it and apply for 15 min. Rest your back, lie on floor
with your legs up on stool or chair, put pillow under head for comfrt. hold for 15 min.
lean fwrd. in your chair lower your head to the knees. hold for 1 mint....stand with your hands on the low back. Bend slightly back for 15secs. Repeat 2 or 3 times.
I have lower back pain. It took two years of begging to get an MRI. Three shots later with no results, and other 5 years,...next MRI detected osteoathritis in addition to the discs being a problem. Several more years of anti-depressants, office visits, and pain medication, and I could no longer hold a job. Going onto 13 years now, the response is the same from my HMO (went through three different ones and they all had the same viewpoint). Yes the discs are slipping, yes you aren't responding to treatment, no we won't surgically correct it because we could do more harm than good. NO physical hands on examinations, all office visits fully clothed, BEGGED for x-tras and MRI by bringing someone with me to appointments. I've been unemployed for 3 years, can't hold a job if it's temp or even volunteering due to the fatigue and pain,.... and on top of it all the inability to exercise has me 40 lbs overweight. So Mr. Author of this article - what do the 85% of us who get no help but are made into ongoing revenue generating patients do next? bononista
What's the point of recommending "exercise" when you don't specify what exercises. As someone who's dealt with off-and-on back pain all my life, I've found exercise more palliative than preventive, and - needless to say - the wrong exercises and the "right" exercises done the wrong way can be the cause, not the cure.
This general, indeed generic, advice might be helpful for those who know the specific triggers of their backaches; but for those, like me, suceptible to the "anytime, anywhere, any intensity" variety ... some specifics, please?
How much are we looking at for this to be fixed? Without health insurance. Price range???
