May 2010 Wrap-Up

  • What happened on MyOsteoarthritisCentral in May 2010? Let's run down the month that was!

We welcomed a new Expert to the fold, Dr. Daniel O'Neill, M.D., Ed.D, F.A.A.O.S.  He had two posts this month: the first, an introduction to the community and the second, Dr. O'Neill questions the productivity of abusing one's body late in life.  Please join me in welcoming Dr. O'Neill to the community - I can't wait to see what he discusses next!

Dr. Christina Lasich provided some useful commentary on Hand Arthritis in addition to helping answer some of the community's questions.

We also resurrected the Quizzes and Tools page. New quizzes included content on Ankle Replacement Surgery and Arthritis of the Knee!  Challenge yourself and take a quiz!

On the news front, the FDA approved a nasal spray pain-reliever, acupuncture was proven to legitimately be a form of pain relief, ginger is also shown to help treat arthritis and a new painkiller was approved to help reduce ulcers caused by NSAIDs.  The FDA also rejected a new OA drug in May.

Is there anything else that you saw or did this month? Is there any way you think we can improve the site? Is there anything you want to see in the future?

In June, we're going to be addressing some new topics. Do you have a story to tell or an experience to share? Come create a sharepost, ask a question, or comment on an article - the community is alive and well!
