New to site. I am a 43 year old active, ex-athlete with bi-lateral knee osteoarthritis. In my younger years I had numerous meniscal tears and surgeries which have contributed to my current situation. I have been on Celebrex daily for the last 9 years. I began road cycling and spinning about 3 years ago. I felt great! The added strength in my quadriceps afforded pain relief and I highly recommend regular cycling to those with my problem.
My current situation arose after a recent tear in my lateral meniscus of my left knee. Arthroscopy took care of this, but unfortunately has led to an alteration in the alignment of my left leg where my underlying problem is medial compartment osteoarthritis (severe) with significant loss of joint space. It has been 4 months and I am looking into future options.
I am looking into an off-loader type brace and considering Hyalgan injections.
I would appreciate input on anyone's experience with the brace, but mostly, I would like input from anyone who has had an osteotomy procedure to correct an alignment problem with uni-compartment osteoarthritis. Any advice is welcome.
