What is Osteoarthritis?

At a Glance

Osteoarthritis is the degeneration of the cartilage in a joint.  That cartilage serves as a cushion between bones and the breakdown of this tissue leads to pain and inflammation.  Osteoarthritis is caused by both genetics and abuse to the cartilage in the joints from overuse, injury and obesity.
