Costs and Insurance
The cost of living with osteoarthritis can vary greatly. For the most mild cases, over the counter pain relievers and supplements should help cure the pain. As the condition progresses and pain and immobility increase, prescription drugs may be necessary. In the most extreme cases, surgery - particularly joint replacement surgery - can cost thousands of dollars. If pain is severe, insurance is necessary to help cover the costs, and, due to the disease and its ability to negatively effect so many aspects of life, insurance companies often do cover treatment of osteoarthritis.
