2  years  ago I  had  a  arthoscopy  knee  surgery  which  helped  a lot  and  Synvisc  injections  last  year.  The  MRI   showed  bone on  bone and  osteoathritis  but  am  holding off  on  surgery  as I  am  recovering  fom  a  rupured  achilles tendon  surgery  in my  left   leg  on  March  2007.  My left  knee is in  constant pain so I  thought  maybe  the  shots  would  help.  Am  taking  the Osteo Bi- Flex with joint  shield  advanced but  heard  that they take  many  weeks  to  work.  Also  try  hot  and cold  tx.  What  are some of  the good  knee exercises I  could  try too???   Are  the  injections  a  good  idea??? Thanks!!   Elizabeth  Pepper

Hi Elizabeth,

Thank you for your question! I can only really speak about the Synvisc injections - I'd have to let someone else answer about the knee exercises that you could do that might help. The Synvisc website states that some patients show interest in repeating the treatment course six months after the first cycle. If you are interested in repeating the treatment, you should discuss the idea with your doctor. I'm not sure if your insurance covered the treatments, but the insurance may limit how often you can receive treatments.

Best of luck!

Casey

The breakdown of cartilage in the knee can lead to bony protrusions called spurs and considerable joint pain.
