Usually a young person of age 50 or less will want to try to avoid joint replacement surgery. On the other hand, such a surgery on a key joint can greatly improve quality of life. In an effort to avoid sugery, injections (either steriod or synovial supplementation) can be a viable option. Pain relief can also come in the form of a joint brace/support, parafin wax soaking, accupunture, nutrition, assistive devices like a cane, and medications. See a pain specialist to get you on the right pathway towards a solution.

For starters she can have knee surgery or see A doctor who can help her by giving her medicine or something.
