Q: Will prior(10yrs)endocarditis stop me from having a knee replacement ?

I was diagnosed with endocarditis ten years ago and i am told that i cannot have a knee replacement because of this? I have had 2 arthroscopes to remove meniscus tears and now i am at a dead end.  I hate my only option being a pain clinic.  I am only 51 and this is stopping me from so much of my life.

I was diagnosed in January this year after contractiong MSSA after having a bursa removal and arthroscope to shave a torn meniscus. I wa staken into hospital very poorly and they found the MSSA which lead to infected endocarditis. Now I am waiting for surgery again (arthroscope and miniscus total removal) and i know this is going to lead to big problems (arthritis) I presumed they would be able to replace the knee but I was obviously wrong. Im only 44 and up until then I lead a healthy full life (racing huskies) but i cant do that anmore and doubt i will be able to again.

How did you get your endocarditis?
