The best thing to do is tell your doctor that the prescribed pain medication you are taking aren't helping you.   There are other medication options for osteoarthritis pain relief. Many users on this site find relief with Tylenol and aspirin.   Bottom line, talk to your doctor and explain that you need better pain relief and pain management.
