Well before jumping into surgery, a doctor needs to determine why your knee hurts. Maybe you have tendonitis? Or maybe you have a torn ligament or meniscus? But if you do have joint deterioration to the point that the bones are rubbing against each other such as the case in end-stage osteoarthritis of the knee, then you might be a candidate for a knee replacement surgery. Other factors, in addition to the diagnosis, determine the correct treatment plan for your knee pain such as your weight, fitness level and age.
