Tuesday, January 11, 2011 Tunukayi asks

Q: My finger joints ache at night when I am sleeping and feel like they are swollen if I try to fold them forming a fist, sometimes they feel like they have gone to sleep, what should I do?

If I were to see someone with the same hand symptoms that you are having, I would order a hand X-ray and get some laboratory studies looking for different types of arthritis. I would also do a thorough physical examination to test the circulation and the nerve function. So, you probably should see a doctor. If you have something like rheumatoid arthritis, early detection is critical to prevent severe disability in the future.
