Q: my left ring finger is swollen at the joint, it does not hurt. what can i do to reduce the swelling

That's a weird one!

 

A lot of different conditions can cause swelling. You should talk to your doctor if you're concerned about the swelling in your ring finger. Did you injure it in some way?

 

In the mean time, you can try putting ice or a cold pack on the swollen part. Apply the cold for 15 minutes, then take it off for 20 minutes. You can repeat that a few times. You can aslo try keeping in elevated (while you're sitting down, just prop your elbow up on the arm rest so your hand is in the air).

 

If that does not help, or if the swelling gets worse or it does start to hurt, you really should head for the doctor.
