You may have plantar fasciitis, a condition that can be very painful. Usually the pain is most prominent with the first few steps in the morning and at the end of the day. Many, many products are available to treat plantar fascitis including night splints, shoe inserts, topicals and shoes. The best company promoting foot pain relief is Footsmart.

If you spend a lot of time on your feet, start with a really good pair of shoes. Shoes provide cushioning and support. A good pair of shoes can relieve pain. A bad pair of shoes can cause pain. If you cannot afford shoes, try some shoe inserts. Not the expensive custom kind, just the commercial off the shelf kind. Topicals and ice can help. Stretching and even physical therapy can help. Eventually, you may need to see a foot specialist to get an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan.

I am adding my own therapy here which helped me.  I ended up hobbling before going into physical therapy at advice of podiatrist.  Probably the most helpful therapy at home now is freezing a water bottle and then while sitting in front of TV rolling it under my foot. Also, some people recommend a tennis ball. I always start the morning with a firm grasp on my toes and stretching my foot upwards as far as possible to stretch the platar tendon, doing this at least three times and holding position for count of fifteen seconds each time. Another is to put marbles on floor and pick up with toes, doing this at least once a day.  Hope these home exercises are helpful.  A good massage of foot also good with lotion and followed by heating pad.  Good luck!
