Q: Can I take daypro with Asprin,Vytorin,Prinivil, and Mirapex with out complications?

I took 600 mg. of daypro along with 1mg. of mirapex, an asprin 325mg and a 10/20mg vitorian last evening and ended up in the hospital. The prognosis was drug overdose. Could there have been a drug interaction instead, especially since I only took the amount that was perscribedl by my family doctor? I'm very concerned. Please HELP?

Hi Jan,

Thanks for your questions.  The answer to your question would depend on what your symptoms were during your trip to the hospital.  Generally, these medications would be considered pretty safe to take together at the strengths and doses prescribed.  The most notable interaction between these medications involves the Daypro and aspirin.  When these medications are taken together it may place the person at an increased risk of bleeding.  However, even with this, patients are looked at on an individual basis and many require both medications.

I can't say exactly what happened with your medication regimen and why it was determined to be an overdose.  I would be very interested in what your symptoms were during your stay.  All, I can tell you is that these medications when taken together are generally considered safe with only minor interactions such as the one that I mentioned between Daypro and aspirin.

Another minor interaction is between the NSAIDS (Daypro and aspirin) and your prinivil.  NSAIDS can decrease the blood pressure lowering effects of prinivil.  This is considered a very minor interaction and would most likely not be severe enough to put someone in the hospital.  Generally, all you would see is an increase in blood pressure.

Thanks again for your question and hopefully this was somewhat helpful.
