Knee injection contains the patients own blood.
My Father and I have visited the doctor in order to examine my fathers knees. The doctor recommended that my father should have both of his knees injected. He told us that they will take some blood from my father and then process it in the lab in order to mix it with the other materials and then inject the mixture into the knees. According to him, this new procedure aims to help building the cartilage which is unlike other injections (I think he means hyaluronic acid injections & corticosteroid injection) which are a temporary solution.
Do you have any information regarding this new process and has it being tested or tried before.
Thanks
I have not heard of this particular procedure so I would recommend you procede with caution. I would ask the Physician how many times he/she has performed this and what the success rate has been. Ask other physicians also. Are there any side reactions to the injections, etc. Good luck!

I just had a consultation with my sport docto, and he wants to do the same thing to me, check out this link http://www.nice.org.uk/guidance/index.jsp?action=article&o=41410. According to the doc they don't add any steroids to the blood, I'm still researching myself and will post anything I find. I have patellar tendonitis and it's been a nightmare. Be sure to do your research and get a second opinion if your doctor gives you the run around. I did physical therapy for a year until they finally did an MRI and found that I had a tear if the patellar tendon. Now they're going to do ultrasound of my knee and are waiting for me to decide if I want the injection.
