Low levels of the electrolytes potassium, magnesium, and calcium can also cause leg cramps and you would typically get these in a multivitamin. Dehydration is another cause of cramping so make sure you're drinking plenty of fluids each day.
If leg cramps are coming on that fast once you start exercising, but the pain subsides quickly if you stop to rest, then you may be experiencing something called vascular claudication and you should be evaluated by a physician.
