Anytime needles are involved, you need to be most concerned about the possibility of acquiring an infection. You need to be seen by the professional who gave you the injections to have the joints checked.   If the joints are not infected, then it is possible that the increased pressure created by injecting fluid into the confined joint space is causing a temporary increase in the amount of pain that you are experiencing.   Dr. Christina Lasich, MD
