can this medication also be used for fluid on a joint?

My doctor gave me Mobic one week for fluid on my knee, and then the next week he gave me another prescription for the same medication for arthritis.

Hello Gwen,

 

Mobic (meloxicam is the generic name) is an anti-inflammatory medication.  It is an NSAID, which is the same class of medications in which ibuprofen and naprosyn belong.  Swelling associated with osteoarthritis is typically due to inflammation. Because Mobic is used to reduce inflammation, it may also help reduce swelling in some individuals.
