Q: I only have one vestibular nerve due to surgery for removal of an acoustic neuroma last year. Durin

I am scheduled for an MRI of the brain and internal auditory canals to check for regrowth of my acoustic neuroma and to see if another is growing on my good side due to balance issues and more hearing loss in my good ear (I am deaf in my AN ear).  I am hoping for good news and that these  balance issues are mainly because of my knees.  I'm sure you can see why this would be preferable.  Since my balance system is now impaired by two factors, having only one vestibular nerve and OA, what is the prognosis for regaining most balance function?  I do not fall down on a regular basis, but can't walk in a straight line and am unsteady, some days more than others. I also have a fair amount of pain from my knee problems.  I have tried Aleeve, Advil, Tylenol for arthritis.  They reduce the pain, but do not alleviate it.  HELP!!

Thanks,

Wendy
