Q: I have developed a painful condition in my right CMC joint. The pain began suddenly 6 weeks ago following wringing out some hand laundry. Is this likely arthritis or is it possibly tendonitis?

The pain at the base of your thumb could be both CMC arthritis and De Quervain's Tendonitis. The two problems usually go hand in hand. Luckily, a thumb spica splint worn during activities can help relieve both problems with one "stone".
