Dear nlb98---when my OA deteriorated my hip "completely" where surgical intervention was necessary---the final hint for my doctor was the groin pain.  He said it's cause by the deterioration of the joint.  This eventually happened wth both of my hips and I had to have total hip replacement surgery for each (1 at a time---several months apart).  Be sure your doctor is aware of your painful areas even though you may think that this is unrelated!
