British scientists say inflammation at the sites where ligaments
and tendons attach to bones contributes to the development of
osteoarthritis (OA). Researchers previously thought the sole cause
of this degenerative form of arthritis was bits of cartilage
breaking off and irritating the thin, smooth membrane lining
joints. This new discovery could lead to new prevention and
treatment for OA.
