An analysis of published studies on complementary therapies such as capsaicin gel, S-adenosyl-L-methionine (SAMe), and glucosamine has found that many of these treatments have no effect on rheumatoid arthritis (RA) or osteoarthritis (OA). Statistics suggest that as many as 60 percent of people who suffer arthritis or similar  pain conditions turn to complementary medicines.
