Previously, only men with a risk of 10 percent or greater of developing heart disease within 10 years were thought to benefit from aspirin therapy. A new study from the University of North Carolina has found that men with a risk of 7.5 percent or greater also benefit. Statins are best reserved for those with a risk of 10 percent or greater, researchers said.
