To date, the FDA has not approved any drug for specific treatment of fibromyalgia. The first choice in drug treatments usually consists of an antidepressant or a muscle relaxant. The goal is improving sleep and pain tolerance. Medications from other drug classes (sleeping aids, anti-convulsants, pain relievers) may also be prescribed.
