According to a new study, a drug used to lower uric acid levels may offer hope for teens who suffer from high blood pressure. Researchers recruited 30 adolescents with hypertension and gave them the drug Zyloprim (allopurinol), and then later gave them a placebo. They found that 20 of the 30 teens achieved normal blood pressure while taking the drug, compared to only one of the 30 when they were taking a placebo.
