Strength training and self-management techniques can help treat middle-aged people who have been diagnosed with early knee osteoarthritis (OA), researchers say. In a two-year study, investigators had patients with early OA of the knee do strength training, self-management, or a combination of both. They found that all of these sedentary patients benefited from the treatments, suggesting these techniques could be easy ways for people with early OA to treat the condition.
