Scientists studying the effects of vitamin D on osteoarthritis (OA) of the knee say low levels of the vitamin may cause more severe symptoms of the condition. Researchers measured the vitamin D levels of 100 people who were suffering from OA. Forty-seven percent of the patients were vitamin-D deficient, and these patients had higher pain levels and more difficulty walking than those who had adequate levels of vitamin D.
