fitness, osteoporosis, growing old the best i can...
strontium citrate, bone supporting supplements
I am 56 years young, living in a small town in west central IL. I am married with 2 grown kids and 3 granddaughters. I enjoy fitness, keeping active, cooking and baking, reading and making twined rag rugs and other crafts. I work part time in a Curves like fitness center for women and like to encourage the other women to work as hard as they can to keep their bones strong, although they don't always listen. To keep busy i volunteer at our local food pantry and animal shelter. I have osteoporosis of the lumbar spine, osteopenia in the hips. I try to do all i can to help my bone density, but i do not let a dx of less than perfect bones rule my life. My bones may not be as dense as they should be, but i know they are strong from hard work, lots of walking, weight training. I try to eat healthy most of the time and take supplements that are good for the bones. I have been taking strontium citrate for almost 3 years and am looking forward to having a DEXA this summer. I am confident that i'll see even more gains that the one i had after 9 months of use. ***Since i wrote this i've had the DEXA and did have more gains in both the hips and lumbar spine. My next goal is to get my scores even lower and hopefully into the normal range.
