i reluctently and recently, probably 2 1/2 mths now, had the reclast infusion, my oncololgist suggested it last year , i was against it, once its in you, no turning back. so then my rheumotologist suggested it and i gave in. now 2mths later, i developed HBP. i never had HBP my whole life, its always been normal low. my heartrate is eratic amoung other new symptoms, like muscular weaknes, short of breath. i mention these because i like to hike and never would be sooo out of breath as i was just recently. these symptoms, signs are all new. i am very disgusted and worried, hoping that in a years time and then some, will the reclast leave the body. too me, its like having a chemo treatment, not as toxic, but toxic enough to raise ones blood pressure to be in hytensive state. I started bp meds 3 wks ago, and bp is still in hypertension, that i'll address with doc. as far as the drug co's. i would love to infuse them and let them have things happen to their body. the sudden spike in bp and being on meds surely doesnt sit right with me. and lastly its only a crap shoot if ones body will return to normal after a year and then some.. statistics and guinea pigs. to all god bless and take caution. who would guess this would happen. mcspirit

Hi Mcspirit, welcome! I'm so sorry this has happened to you. I realize what I'm about to say is cold comfort for you, but have you filed a report with the FDA?
You need to do this and have your doctor file one as well. We have many other members who've had similar problems and we try hard to alert them, but it's impossible for patients to read all the precautions before the infusion.
Also, did they perform a creatinine clearance test prior to the infusion? This has to be done, so I sure hope they at least did that. If you'd like to talk to others with this problem, here's an interview of a member here that is going through hell with her side effects. Jerri's interview is tough to read, but I think you should anyway; she also testified before the FDA last Sept on this very issue. Maybe you could get some ideas from her (Jerri) and see if there's anything else you can do. You can always contact her via the private messaging.
Again I'm very sorry and wish you had read her interview before you made your decision, but now all you can do is hope the side effects subside very soon and try everything you can to minimize the BP issues and anything that may crop up. Please don't blame yourself for any of this! Hopefully nothing else will happen, but I know how horrible it is to have heart problems and how it impacts your life, I'm going through that myself right now and may need surgery.
Good luck and take care. The link to report this is above in blue/purple words "report with the FDA." Keep us posted on how you do and if you need any help or just need to vent come back and post anytime! Oh, also see the link above about creatinine clearance, it will take you to the prescribing info and you can read what to expect, but keep in mind we all have varying reactions, so I hope yours aren't all that are listed. Atrial fibrillation is one of the side effects, so try to find out what you can do about this, so you can resume your hiking. We'll give you all the support we can! Your in our thoughts and good wishes!
