Why you do not recommend a treatment with Strontium and calcium orotate?

Hi Rafles,

Thank you for your comment. The purpose of my article was not to recommend one treatment over another. I was merely trying to provide food and nutrition tips for those taking a specific medication.

Thanks!

What is the data on Strontium and calcium orotate?  Does it prevent bone loss, increase bone mass?

Thanks,

Anne

Thank you for the information.  It is my first day and I know nothing.  I have 2.8 spinal osteoperosis and ostopenia in my hips.  My Dr. said she would be prescribing the Sally Field stuff [;)].  I think I'm happy to have received the weekly mediciation that doesn't require any intervenous or whatever that every third month treatment might be.

My osteoporisis has been classified as secondary due to use of Depo Vera which was prescribed to me to control menorrhagia.  I was on it for approx. 1 1/2 years. I am now either post-menopausal or pretty close to it.  Whew.

I already took my first pill.  Though it appears I picked a bad week. I have a severe upper respiratory infection--viral. It is final getting better--I feel better today than I have in a week.  I took prescription cough medicine this morning about 0730.  I took my first Alendronate pill about noon.  Having read some information thus far, I am concerned about throat side effects.  Is my best response to drink 2-3 glasses of water?  What else can I do?

I had breakfast/lunch ready when the doorbell rang and my medication arrived.  I figure I'll microwave my lunch  in another 10 minutes.  Is  waiting to eat for a longer amount of time better or does it make no difference?

I appreciate your time.  Thanks again.

Hi Dianekkdi, good luck with Fosamax.  Just be sure to take it on an empty stomach and wait to eat.  Look at the prescription, and see how long you are suppose to wait to eat.  If it says 30 minutes or longer, just follow that instruction.
