Hi, My mom has osteo.. Her t-score is -2.8. We are not sure how bad that is but have been told that it is bad enough she should take forteo. She has had one fracture in her back already. Osteo. runs in her family. We are needing advise about how to keep her from getting any worse. Has forteo helped anyone out there? Has anyone found any good alternative care programs that work? How low can a t-score go? We would appreciate your help.

Thanks so much for sharing your questions, I am certain your mother appreciates your concern for her! With her T-score, fractures and family history it is so important to take osteoporosis seriously before it gets worse. I wasn't clear if it was her physician who prescribed Forteo -- but you should take seriously whatever treatment her doctor recommends or look for a second opinion if you have reservations about it. Also be sure to ask your medical professional about the right levels of calcium and Vitamin D intake, and be on the guard for osteoporosis risk factors in your own life. Good luck with everything and best wishes to your family.
hi Lila,
if you get anyone wanting to get on Forteo but can't afford the co-pay, give them my email:aprettypicture@hotmail.com.
I stumbled over the solution, and I am happy to share. Can't say yet if this is a curse or a blessing, but it isn't costing me much, and I don't even have full blown OsteoP- yet. My doctor was really surprised- had prepared me to pay for the full enchilada all myself.
