This is fine for older men but I was diagnosed at 46. Doctors don't even think about osteoporosis in men under 70. Doctors should look for risk factors sooner.

I agree with you that doctors do not pay attention to the risk facotrs and they mostly pay attention to general guidlines. I am 38 and found to have otseoprosis.

When I asked an elderly male friend why he declined to drink wine with his meal he explained that he had problems with his esophagus. Alarmed, I asked if he was taking proton pump inhibitors (for acid reflux) and he responded "Yes...for decades."  ...and at age 83 had never had a bone scan despite a dramatic dowagers hump and being married to a doctor. Continuous use of PPIs is one of the most common causes of osteoporosis in men. Why aren't we addressing the obvious?! www.osteoporosis-vitamins.com
