Today was calmer..I didn't shake and inserted the needle properly.  No blood, no bruising.  Hang in there, it gets better.  Amen

Hi Judi,

Progress...slowly but surely. Good for you.

Maria, thanks so much for the response...how long have you been on Forteo.   And have you had good results?  This is freaking me out, all the needles, push in pull out 1's 2's priming etc.  Its been 5 days and I think today is the first I have done it OK.

But if there are good results, then I am determined. Especially if others have had good results.

thanks, Judi

Hi Judi,

I'm not taking Forteo, but I communicate with many people who have or do take the drug, so I understand what you're dealing with.

Hang in there - it sounds like things are getting better for you. Be sure to keep us posted on how it's going.

Best,

Maria

I'm not taking Forteo, but I know some people who are, and it can be a challenge. Best to you!

I used to pinch my thigh (while sitting) and hold the pen and needle about 1/2 inch above the skin and then just drop it and it would go in without any pain or pushing -- the weight of the pen was enough to just let the needle slide in.

Joan, thats for the advise.  Did you find your thigh better than the stomach area?  I am curious as to your results...how long did you take Forteo and what were the end results?

Thanks again, Judi

Yes, my thigh was much easier for me because I could just pinch the skin and drop the pen and it would go right in without any effort.  I rarely felt a pinch.  I would swith to abdomen occasionally, but found thigh easier and less painful

I took for 1 year because my doctor said benefit continues for awhile after you stop using and he wanted to "save" a year (just in case) for sometime down the road (at the time there was a 2 year limit on use of the drug.  I don't know if there still is.)

I did VERY well on FORTEO.  I never felt so good in my life and would love to be back on it.  I had added benefits, as I said, such as my knees stopped creeking and hurting.  In fact, it is just recently that my knees have started to bother me again-but ony slightly.

Results were very good.  I have not taken anything since I ended the FORTEO (I think 3 years ago now).

I make sure I get enough sun!  I hid from the sun for decades-a big mistake-naturally produced vitamin D is very important.  Get sun, but do not burn or over-do it.

Added note: I'm in Cleveland Ohio.

Good luck to you!
