Hi PJ, I sure hope this does get the final approval.  Wouldn't it be nice to have a different class of drug to use for bone loss.  I talked to my Dr. and she doesn't think my insurance would pay for this, but we'll see, on both this issue and the possible approval.

Thanks for the info...

I think eventually this will get passed by the FDA, Pam. They have a history of taking things very slooowly sometimes. But I know Amgen will be pushing very hard for it; it represents billions of potential dollars for them. And then - we'll hope the insurance companies come through! - PJ

One difficulty with Prolia being so new is that there have been no trials to see if it is effective on bone growth achieved by those taking Forteo.  That's what my endo told me when I mentioned it to her as a follow up to Forteo.  I'm hoping some trials came out soon.  I believe there is a trial starting at Boston General using Forteo and Prolio, but I don't know in what manner it's being conducted, like, Prolio after Forteo or which of the 2 drugs is more effective. So many  questions. I'd hate to take Prolio and find that it doesn't work on bone made by Forteo.  Like my dentist said about bisphosphonates, the "new" bone isn't really new bone.  Even with Forteo, it's not the same as the bone you make when you're 17.
