Osteo & Chemo

By Pam M Thursday, July 12, 2007

Heart To All that may have the same as me.

I believe that anyone who has any Osteo in the family should be tested at a early age. I got cancer in June/2006 and the chemo weakend my bones a ton!!! Then i find out i have Osteo. If you have been threw chemo please push to get a bone density done, not just a bone scan there is a huge difference between the two ok.I would not want to see anyone else have to suffer with this. I pray we can make a difference in someones life on these posts and try to help them before they get to bad or to emotional. We all need to support one another at some point in our lives.. Take Care everyone xoxoHeart

Thanks so much for your thoughtful advice, Pam. Unfortunately the same chemotherapy that can stop tumor growth can often also result in bone loss. You are absolutely right that cancer survivors need to continue monitoring for osteo as well.
